When it rains…

July 21st, 2009

Sometimes it seems like life is full of curveballs and no matter how many you manage to hit, they just keep coming. Recently it’s been a series of events that I just can’t help but laugh about. In the last few weeks the list goes something like this:

  • Grommit, our basset hound, hurts his leg. We think it was some type of dislocation. $450 in vet bills
  • My car overheats due to a leak in the radiator. $$$$
  • I get bit/stung by lord only knows what and my foot swells up in spectacular fashion
  • The sliding door on the van decides to break.

How’s that for a list? I know I am totally forgetting a few things because when I had a long list well before I actually got around to writing this post and now I can’t actually remember them.

Alright LIFE, I’ve had enough! Time to let someone else deal with chaos.

Sprocket the Cat

November 24th, 2008

My wife is a true sucker for baby animals. I can’t say that I don’t share her sentiment because kittens are just so cute. As she wrapped up her Christmas shopping yesterday she called me to tell me that she’d found a baby kitten in the parking lot and it was currently riding with her in the car and to not be mad.

I wasn’t mad.

So we get the kitten home and put her in a cat carrier so our cats and dogs wouldn’t destroy her. Our animals tend to roughhouse quite a bit.

We knew we couldn’t keep the poor kitten because both of our cats have FIV. Luckily, my brother was willing to take the little gal since he’s only got one cat.

He let me know today that he named her Sprocket. She is very mellow. I can already tell that we’ll be taking the kids over to visit her. Ethan and Evie were both excited that we had a baby kitten in the house. Evie called it the “Baby Bow”. Bow means cat and is pronounced “bOw” with a heavy emphasis on the O.
