A Holiday Story About Trains
Since Christmas is in full swing despite it not even being Thanksgiving yet, I thought I would relay a funny Christmas story. 2 years ago we decided to buy a train for Ethan for Christmas. He wasn’t necessarily big into trains at that time, but it was a Buzz Lightyear train featuring animation and lights. He LOVED Buzz Lightyear and who wouldn’t dig a sweet train like that right?
Instead of giving it to him in a box, we decided to open it and put this thing together and make sure it worked. Luckily for us, we did this on the 23rd of December. This particular train was an absolute nightmare. The track itself took me nearly 30 minutes to assemble because I don’t think the pieces were actually meant to attach to each other.
While I assembled the track, Lauren got batteries installed in this “train” and prepped it for a quick demo. The train didn’t exactly fit on the track very well, but we figured it would spend most of its time getting knocked over anyway. Upon turning the train on, Lauren and I broke out into maniacal laughter and hysteria. The train itself was easily louder than our vacuum and seemed to be missing any type of lights OR animation. Instead, the train just poked around the track making the most god awful noise I’ve ever heard in my life.
Needless to say, we packed that piece of garbage up and returned it to Toys R Us.
The train was called the Disney Pixar Buzz & Friends Train Set and you can see a picture of it below and it appears that Sears is still selling it.
